Delta Gulf Oman is currently seeking an experienced Lead Planning Engineer for on-site projects in Oman. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to work on large-scale construction and EPC projects in a dynamic environment.
Position Overview
As a Lead Planning Engineer, you will act as the backbone of project control systems, ensuring accurate progress tracking, forecasting, and strategic reporting to senior management and clients. You will play a key role in delivering projects on time, within budget, and in line with approved standards.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering
A strong engineering foundation is essential to understand construction methodologies, resource planning, and project execution challenges.
Experience Requirements
- 8 to 10 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and monitoring
- Experience in EPC or large-scale construction projects is highly preferred
Candidates with experience in infrastructure, industrial, or multi-disciplinary projects will be given preference.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
- Establish baselines, milestones, and critical paths
- Perform resource loading and leveling
Monitoring & Progress Control
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly project progress
- Compare actual vs planned progress
- Identify delays and implement corrective actions
Cost Management
- Assist in cost control and forecasting
- Monitor project expenditures against budgets
- Support financial decision-making processes
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports
- Maintain planning dashboards and documentation
- Present updates to senior management
Coordination
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and QA/QC teams
- Participate in client progress meetings
- Ensure alignment between execution and approved plans
Technical Tools
- Primavera P6 (scheduling & resource management)
- MS Excel (reporting & analysis)
- AutoCAD (drawing interpretation)
Communication & Meetings
- Conduct daily and monthly project meetings
- Communicate risks and mitigation strategies
- Support claims, variations, and EOT documentation
Core Skills & Competencies
- Strong command of Primavera P6
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong knowledge of project control and monitoring techniques
- Effective communication and coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
