Accountant Job Description

The accountant is responsible for managing financial accounts and ensuring the accuracy of financial records within a company or institution. He analyzes financial data, prepares reports, and ensures compliance with accounting and tax regulations.

The main tasks of the accountant:

1. Preparing financial statements

• Preparing the balance sheet.

• Preparing the income statement.

• Preparing the cash flow statement.

2. Recording financial transactions

• Recording revenues and expenses in accounting books.

• Auditing invoices and financial documents.

• Reviewing bank accounts and accounting reconciliations.

3. Preparing financial reports

• Providing monthly, quarterly and annual reports on financial performance.

• Analyzing profits and losses and proposing financial improvements.

4. Tax management and financial compliance

• Preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with local tax laws.

• Dealing with government agencies and financial institutions regarding taxes and licenses.

5. Payroll and Benefits Management

• Preparing payrolls for employees.

• Calculating deductions and allowances.

• Ensuring the payment of taxes and social insurance.

6. Financial data analysis and financial planning

• Providing financial analyses to support decision-making.

• Forecasting future expenses and revenues.

• Providing plans to reduce costs and increase profits.

7. Handling payments and receipts

• Following up on customer and supplier accounts.

• Managing payment and collection processes.

• Verifying payment of due invoices on time.

8. Assisting in internal and external audits

• Cooperating with internal and external auditors during financial audits.

• Preparing financial documents required for regulatory authorities.

Skills required for an accountant:

Proficiency in accounting programs such as QuickBooks, SAP and Excel.

Data analysis skills and dealing with numbers accurately.

Knowledge of financial and tax laws.

Communication skills and preparing financial reports.

Accuracy and attention to detail.
